The Latest Quality Entertainment Offerings
Launched in 2006, the Peachtree Village International Film Festival has been instrumental in helping many in the film industry get their start and achieve great success. This year Len Gibson and James ‘JB’ Brown did a spectacular job with this year’s film festival by putting together a dynamic weekend of activities that spanned across four days. Mic Check Media had the privilege of covering Friday night’s PVIFF/VH1 Save The Music Foundation concert that featured The Alumni (Chubb Rock, Dana Dane, Special Ed, Greg Nice, Kwame) as the show’s headliners. The event kicked off with hosts Bow Legged Lou of Full Force, and Daddy-O from hip-hop group Stetsasonic. Some of the most notable performances from the evening were from Tocarra Hamilton, Rich Kidz, The Mad Violinist, Dondria, Dionne Farris, and Anthony David along with Algebra. Da Brat made a surprise visit to the concert joining DJ Nabbs on stage for an impromptu set.
The highlight of the evening goes to the headliners, The Alumni. The Alumni consisting of Chubb Rock, Dana Dane, Special Ed, Kwame, and Greg Nice came together exactly one year ago to form the super group and they have been performing together ever since. DJ Wiz of the legendary group Kid ‘N Play served as their DJ. From the moment they took the stage they took control of the crowd and had everyone on their feet till the very end. Chubb Rock came out first to introduce the group to the anticipating crowd and he immediately began getting the crowd hyped. He introduced The Alumni one by one giving them an opportunity to perform from their catalog of many hits.
One of the highlights was the old school dance competition the group held in the middle of their set. Fans from the crowd competed against each other doing dances such as the Running Man and The Humpty Dance. As fans we were treated to such classic hits as Cinderfella Dana Dane, I Got It Made, The Rhythm, Hip-Hop Junkies, Just The Two of Us, and the list goes on. The PVIFF/VH1 Save The Music Foundation concert was a great start to a great weekend and Mic Check Media is already looking forward to next year’s event.
